NATIONAL WATERPARK DAY

On July 28, laughter and fun are just a couple of the requirements on National Waterpark Day! We recommend bathing suits, too!

Waterparks around the world provide thrilling, water plunging rides for those who seek the white-knuckle hydro powered slides. For those who prefer to relax and unwind, lazy rivers, wave pools and spas in tropical scenes satisfy these vacationers.

With so many options to choose from, waterparks can be more than just a portion of a vacation. They can be the destination. In the United States, nearly every state has a waterpark. The Wisconsin Dells is the Waterpark Capital of the World and the largest indoor park in America is currently at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania.

From the youngest family member to grandma and grandpa, there’s a splashable, relaxable experience for all. On National Waterpark Day, enjoy all the memory making waterparks have to offer!

 HISTORY

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions founded National Waterpark Day on July 28 to celebrate the unique attractions waterparks offer especially during the height of summer.  Kalahari opened its first waterpark in July 2000 in Wisconsin Dells – and have since led the expansion to other areas of the country including Sandusky, Ohio in 2005 and the Pocono Mountains Pennsylvania in 2015. In March 2017, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions opened phase two of its waterpark in the Pocono Mountains, which dethroned the Sandusky location as America’s Largest Indoor Waterpark. The family-owned company will soon be expanding to Round Rock, Texas. The resort was awarded #1 World’s Coolest Indoor Waterpark by Conde Nast Traveler in 2014.

The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared the National Waterpark Day to be celebrated annually in 2017.
